David Mayer-Oakes served as USA Cycling's Athlete Development Manager from 2000 til 2004, coaching regional athletes and managing up to 25 camps annually, both road and mountain bike. Before that he was the Southern Regional Coach for USA Cycling, managing the Regional road camp in Jacksonville, Alabama, and coaching southern region athletes to numerous Junior National Championships, working closely with longtime friend and former USAC National Coaching Director, Chris Carmichael, founder of Carmichael Training Systems, and coach to Lance Armstrong.
